James Kalberer is the Vice President for Armament Systems Business Unit headquartered in Plymouth, MN. The business unit, with its customers and industry partners, creates and delivers medium caliber cannons, ammunition, precision guided munitions, and integrated systems. James is responsible for the business unit’s culture of success, execution of current programs and their associated financial performance and the organization's future through ensuring it is positioned to grow through innovation, continuous improvement and profitability.

Prior to his current responsibilities, James led Armament Systems’ guns operating unit where he was director and site lead. He has also led the advanced medium caliber ammunition and international co-production business portfolios where he was responsible for development of advanced technologies and the business strategy for creation of new products, transition to production, paths to market, and business capture. Through his career he has held positions in engineering and P&L.

With more than 20 years’ experience in the aerospace and defense industry, James has accumulated significant experience in strategic planning, technology, business development, and international business. He has applied this experience to create focus on business success and the development of high performing teams and most recently, the organization and growth of Armament Systems to succeed and deliver outstanding business results.

James holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND and a master’s degree in Business Management from Friends University in Wichita, KS.
