Jason W. Gaines is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Munition Systems Business Unit of General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS). In his role, Mr. Gaines is responsible for Medium and Large Caliber Ammunition, Artillery, Precision Guided Munitions, Pyrotechnics, Demilitarization and the Commercial Machining/Metal Forming businesses of GD-OTS with operating facilities located in St. Petersburg, FL, Marion, IL, Red Lion, PA, Scranton, PA, Wilkes-Barre, PA, Joplin, MO, Moses Lake, WA, and Seattle, WA.

Mr. Gaines began his career in 2004 as a Systems Engineer with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems in St. Petersburg, Florida where he focused on Large Caliber Ammunition design and development. In 2011, he advanced to the role of Program Manager where he was responsible for managing all program execution activity across five USG and international tank ammunition programs while monitoring international regulatory compliance, accounting, financial forecasting and coordination of inter-departmental objectives, timelines and risk mitigation strategies.

In 2013 he was promoted to Director, Large Caliber Ammunition for GD-OTS where he built strong team productivity as well as a constructive relationship with his customer base and industry partners. His responsibilities included overseeing more than 50 USG and international tank ammunition, artillery, and demilitarization programs.

In 2017, Mr. Gaines was appointed Vice President and General Manager for the St. Marks Powder Business Unit of GD-OTS. St. Marks Powder is a leading manufacturer of commercial smokeless BALLPOWDER® propellant and produces over 120 commercial products for Rimfire, Pistol, Shotshell, Industrial Tool, Centerfire Rifle, as well as Military Small, Medium, and Large Caliber applications.

In November 2017, the Picatinny Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) awarded Mr. Gaines the highly prestigious Firepower Award. This award bestowed upon individuals whose outstanding service in the areas of Management, Technology, Development, and/or Production have been deemed as a major contribution to National Defense.

Mr. Gaines was appointed Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Munition Systems Business Unit on January 1, 2019 where he proudly serves today. He holds a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Mercer University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Tampa. He has been married to his wife Joni for 13 years and has three wonderful children, Evan, Olivia and Audrey. Mr. Gaines currently resides in St. Petersburg, Florida.
