Bio

Colonel Christopher Cox began his military education with a Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarship to attend Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, majoring in Theoretical Computer Science.  Upon graduation, he was commissioned into the United States Army Chemical Corps.  Colonel Cox is a graduate of the Chemical Officer Basic and Advance Course located in Fort McClellan, Alabama with coursework emphasizing Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear effects and the capabilities available for detection, identification, prediction of potential hazard locations, and remediation of the same.  This instruction allowed him the opportunity to understand the potential of technology to enhance understanding and the responsiveness during operations on and off the battlefield. 

Colonel Cox is also a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and the Army War College Fellows Program at Carnegie Mellon University.  In addition to his military education, Colonel Cox obtained his Master Degree in Public Administration from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York.

As a career Army officer, Colonel Cox has served across the globe in a host of leadership positions.  He is currently serving as the Director for the Army Futures Command, National Capital Region follow duties as the Director of Materiel, Headquarters, Department of the Army, G-8.  Colonel Cox’s assignments also include three deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq, Chemical Brigade Commander, Chemical Battalion Commander, supervision of the Army Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction and Engineer programs, Chief of Future Concepts for the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCOE), Chief of Staff for a Counter - Improvised Explosive Device Task Force, Deputy Division Chemical Officer, United States Military Academy faculty member, Company Commander, Division Chemical Logistics Officer, Chemical Company Executive Officer, Chemical Platoon Leader, and Battalion Chemical Officer.

Colonel Cox’s awards and decorations include:  the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Meritorious Unit Award, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Ranger Tab, the Combat Action Badge, the Parachutists Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the German Efficiency Badge (Bronze), and the Army Staff Identification Badge.

Colonel Cox hails from Illinois. He and his wife, Michelle, have a wonderful son and a lovely daughter.
