Cheryl Ingstad is the managing director of the National Security Innovation Network (NSIN), a Department of Defense (DoD) program office that collaborates with major universities and the venture community to develop solutions that drive national security innovation.

Ingstad brings extensive experience in both government and industry to NSIN. Under her leadership, NSIN is building a nationwide network of DoD mission partners, startups, academia, large and small businesses, and nonprofits that are driving innovations to give our Armed Forces a technological advantage against any adversary.

Previously, Ingstad served as the director of the Department of Energy (DOE)’s Artificial Intelligence & Technology Office (AITO), where she oversaw development of DOE’s AI strategy and directed the coordination of AI best practices for various applications, such as climate change and disaster response and management.

Ingstad’s experience advancing innovative technology also includes leading critical research and development commercialization efforts in AI/Machine Learning at 3M and directing new capabilities in intelligence operations at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
