Bio

LTC Amanda Hughes is a US Army Military Intelligence Officer. Originally from Indiana, LTC Hughes commissioned from the ROTC program at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC, where she studied criminal justice. She also earned her Masters Degree in Justice Administration from Methodist University in 2016. She has persistently served with and for Special Operations Forces since 2016.

Most recently, she completed an assignment tour as the Senior Intelligence Officer at the Joint Inter-Agency Task Force – National Capital Region (JIATF-NCR) from 2020 – 2022. During that assignment she deployed multiple times in support of a multi-national counter-terrorism organization with a focused emphasis on leveraging extensive relationships with partners and allies to achieve non-kinetic effects.

LTC Hughes has multiple deployment tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Jordan. She has also served on the Joint Staff in a direct support role to the Deputy Director of Special Operations.

She is married to Mr. Joshua Schuhmacher, and they have three children: Jackson (21); Logan (19); and Annabelle (17).
