Today’s defense supply chains include many commercial and “dual-use” suppliers who are essential to both national security and economic security.  Many of these common challenges between the commercial and defense supply chains fall outside of the authority of the DoD.

This means there needs to be a whole-of-government approach to achieve a set of manufacturing policies & purchasing practices that will unleash commercial enterprise, to ensure both economic and national security

The NDIA Manufacturing Division is mobilizing a coalition of advisors for a round-table discussion to talk about solutions. Our objective is to define actions that lead to a whole-of-government approach to achieve a set of manufacturing policies & purchasing practices that will unleash commercial enterprise, to ensure both economic and national security.

 About the Manufacturing Division

Who We Are

The Manufacturing Division aids industry/government/ academia interaction in technological areas directly related to manufacturing research, design, development, testing, and production. The Division believes that effective cooperation among defense industry, university, government, and military representatives is vital to U.S. defense manufacturing efforts. The Division collaborates with other organizations such as Manufacturing USA, DEFENSEWERX, NCDMM, SME, and AMT.

• Advocate for national support for defense manufacturing
• Address manufacturing workforce development issues
• Support promising tech, processes, and methodologies
• Evaluate advanced manufacturing processes
• Convene leaders at defense manufacturing forums
• Recognize individual achievement in manufacturing
