National Defense magazine nets nine Defence Media Award nominations

ARLINGTON, VA – National Defense magazine, the official publication of the National Defense Industrial Association, has been nominated for nine 2021 Defence Media Awards, the most at one time for the Arlington, Virginia-based monthly periodical.

The nominations are:

  • Art Director Brian Taylor for Best Digital Defence submission for innovative use of augmented reality in the print magazine. The NDIA AR app gives readers access to computer-generated content for certain stories. With the technology, photos come to life, videos appear and other enhancements go live.
  • Senior Editor Yasmin Tadjdeh for Best Young Defence Journalist and for submissions in the categories of Best Training, Simulation and Readiness; Best Defence Electronics; and Best Military Rotorcraft.
  • Managing Editor Jon Harper for the John Morrocco Award for Best In-Depth Defense Reporting and for submissions in the categories of Best Military Maintenance Repair and Overhaul and Best Land Systems.
  • Reporter Meredith Roaten for a Best Technology submission.

The awards will be presented Oct. 10 at the National Press Club in Washington. These annual awards that honor the work of defense journalists and publishers began in 2018.
