ARLINGTON, VA -- The National Defense Industrial Association issues the following statement on former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, who died Wednesday, June 30, at age 88.

"NDIA mourns the passing of Donald Rumsfeld, the United States’ 13th and 21st secretary of defense. Rumsfeld demonstrated strong devotion to our country, through his service as a congressional representative, cabinet secretary, presidential envoy and in the private sector. A staunch advocate for military strength, he worked to ensure our warfighters had the capabilities they needed to accomplish their missions. NDIA offers our sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues."
