NDIA issues statement on OSHA vaccine deadline rule

11/4/2021

ARLINGTON, VA -- The National Defense Industrial Association issues the following statement on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s vaccination rules, released Thursday, Nov. 4:

NDIA appreciates all the questions it fielded today regarding the new OSHA vaccination rules and Executive Order 14042, Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors.

As we see it, the new OSHA vaccination rule does not apply to workplaces subject to Executive Order 14042. The OSHA Interim Final Rule on vaccinations will be published Friday, Nov. 5. For more information, we direct you to the executive summary on page 4, here: https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2021-23643.pdf.

Additionally, the Dec. 8 deadline for contractors will change to align with the new OSHA rule’s deadline, Monday, January 4, 2022, for employees to have their final dose of vaccine.

NDIA continues to meet with our COVID-19 Working Group of industry experts to learn how defense contractors of all sizes can comply with these new rules. We welcome your continued questions on this important issue.
