National Defense cover garners APEX award

ARLINGTON, VA -- National Defense, the monthly magazine of the National Defense Industrial Association, was among honorees of the 31st annual APEX Awards for Publication Excellence, chosen for its May 2018 cover, NDIA announced Aug. 5.

The cover was designed by Creative Director Brian Taylor and features a special operator. The issue was themed around the annual Special Operations Forces Industry Conference in Tampa, Florida.

Taylor’s cover also made him a finalist for a DC Society of Professional Journalists award.

The annual APEX Awards for Publication Excellence recognize outstanding work among corporate and nonprofit publishers, editors, writers and designers who create print, Web, electronic and social media. Awards are given in 100 communications categories, in 12 main categories including: newsletters; magazines, journals and tabloids; annual reports; print media; electronic media; social media; apps; websites; campaigns, programs and plans; writing; design and illustration; and special publications.
