ARLINGTON, VA -- Army Secretary Mark Esper will address this year’s Women In Defense National Conference as the government keynote speaker, the Arlington, VA, affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association announces.

Esper will discuss his initiatives for revamping the Army’s personnel system, including a move to a market-based model that would make the most of soldiers’ skills and preparing them for the modern equipment coming to the service. He’ll also talk about the excellence women have brought the Army, how the service has benefited from their skills and dedication and what women can expect from the Army of the future.

Esper and industry keynote speaker Leanne Caret, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, will highlight a day focused on “fueling the 51 percent,” this year’s national conference theme. Among events will be an industry expo, panel discussions on industrial security and operating in a mutigenerational environment, professional development “power workshops” and a luncheon honoring the 2019 Service to the Flag recipients. Attendees will have multiple networking opportunities throughout the day culminating with a late-afternoon reception.
