NDIA congratulates Sen. James Inhofe, new chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee Sen. James Inhofe accepts NDIA's 2018 Dwight D. Eisenhower Award

ARLINGTON, VA – The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) congratulates Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), confirmed Sept. 5, as the new chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

A dedicated public servant and military veteran with more than three decades of congressional experience in military and defense matters, Sen. Inhofe is a tireless advocate for strong budgets that meet the needs of the military in a time of great power competition. In the last year alone with the passage of the fiscal year (FY) 2019 National Defense Authorization Act, Sen. Inhofe has proven himself an effective leader in advancing the annual NDAA in a bipartisan manner.

Sen. Inhofe’s commitment to defense and the military prompted NDIA to award him this year’s Dwight D. Eisenhower Award, which honors his contribution to strong national security, a robust defense industrial base and unwavering support of America’s warfighters. The Eisenhower award recognizes leadership and strategic impact at the highest levels of national security.

NDIA is confident that as he picks up the mantle of the late Sen. John McCain, Chairman Inhofe will continue Sen. McCain’s work of supporting America’s warfighters with the resources they need today to counter the global threats of tomorrow.
