CNO Richardson opens this year’s Undersea Warfare fall conference CNO Adm. John Richardson

ARLINGTON, VA -- The Navy’s top skipper will lead off the 2018 Joint Undersea Warfare Technology Fall conference in Groton, Conn., next week, the National Defense Industrial Association proudly announced Thursday.

Adm. John Richardson, chief of naval operations, will address the crowd at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, one of two full days of speakers and technical sessions taking place at the U.S. Naval Submarine Base New London.

Richardson is among roughly a dozen naval officers and experts who will speak to several hundred attendees at the annual classified event, this year meeting under the theme of maintaining dominance in the undersea domain during SSN gap years. The theme addresses the Navy’s core mission of countering undersea threats to the free and open flow of seaborne commerce while remaining forceful.

Details and information about this event may be found here. This classified event is open only to U.S. citizens who meet the criteria. It is closed to press.
