An award honoring the defense and intelligence industry now proudly graces the National Defense Industrial Association's Arlington, Va., headquarters.

NDIA’s President and CEO Gen Craig McKinley welcomed May 24 the 2016 American Patriot Award statue to the Arlington offices from Lawrence M. Rzepka, president and chief executive officer of the National Defense University Foundation of Washington, which gives the award each year.

The award, an American eagle with wings outstretched and landing near an American flag, was given to NDIA from Norman Augustine, retired chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corp., who accepted it in October 2016.

Augustine received the award on behalf of the personnel and companies of the defense intelligence industry. Former Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter accepted the award given to the Defense Department.

This was the 17th annual American Patriot Award and was presented at ceremonies at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington.
