ARLINGTON, VA – Former Army general officer Jim Boozer joined the ranks Monday, Dec. 4, at the National Defense Industrial Association as its new chief of staff, the Arlington, VA, nonprofit group announced.

In this role, Boozer will oversee the program operations of the 70-employee headquarters. He will help direct NDIA with its policies, practices, products and events for its more than 1,600 corporate and more than 80,000 individual members. He reports to retired Air Force Gen. Hawk Carlisle, NDIA’s president and chief executive officer.

“We are so glad to have Jim on board here,” Carlisle said. “With his experience in management and directing vast Army commands as well as his private-sector ventures, he is a good fit here with our goals to serve our membership to the best of our abilities.”

A retired Army major general, Boozer’s military career spanned more than 35 years. His last assignment was as commander of U.S. Army Japan and I Corps (Forward). He also was deputy commanding general of U.S. Army Europe and operations director for the assistant chief of staff for installation management command. Boozer commanded battery through brigade level and has worked at the Pentagon and Central Command.

“I’m excited to be part of NDIA and its plans to heighten its programs for its members’ interests,” Boozer said. “The professionalism and energy of the staff here are contagious, and it’s great to be on this team.”

A native of South Carolina, Boozer holds a bachelor’s degree in history from The Citadel and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College. He entered the Army in 1980 as a field artilleryman.
