Kea Matory - Director, Legislative Policy
Kea Matory is Director of Legislative Policy for the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). In her role, Matory works with congressional offices, the Department of Defense, and the defense industry to advocate and educate for the development and support of policies for the safety and security of our nation. Matory joined NDIA after serving as the Legislative Affairs Officer at Headquarters, Marine Corps’ Marine and Family Programs Division.
In the civilian sector, Matory served as the Director of a woman-owned small business government consulting firm; as an attorney providing legal advice to service members; and at a national VSO, securing Veterans’ Affairs and DoD benefits for injured veterans and service members.
Nick Jones - Director, Strategy
Nick Jones joined the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) as the Director of Regulatory Policy in 2020. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and Lewis & Clark Law School. Prior to joining NDIA, Nick worked in various strategy roles within Institute, which is part of Boeing’s Autonomous Systems, and Portland General Electric where he worked on the commercialization of new technologies in the defense, maritime, and energy industries.
Jones began his professional career as a Naval Intelligence Officer (1630). His service included assignments with the Office of Naval Intelligence, Electronic Attack Squadron 128, and the Joint Interagency Task Force West. His overseas assignments included Prince Sultan Airbase, U.S. Embassy Manila, U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur, and Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni.
Jones is Board Chair of the Returning Veterans Project a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides free healthcare services to post-9/11 veterans through a community of over 180 licensed healthcare providers in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Jeff Goldberg - Director of Regulatory Policy
Jeff Goldberg joined the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) as Director of Regulatory Policy in 2021. In this role, he is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of regulatory issues that impact the defense industrial base. Additionally, he manages all engagements with the executive branch of the federal government to include the Departments of Defense, State and Commerce along with the White House.
Jeff is a graduate of the University of Virginia, Penn State University’s School of International Affairs and completed an executive education program with the Yale School of Management. Prior to joining NDIA, Jeff worked in various regulatory and strategy roles within the aerospace and defense industry, including with Raytheon, AIA and Rolls-Royce.
Jeff is from Hampton, Virginia, and currently resides in Arlington.
Sandra Hubbard - Program Manager of the Business Institute
Sandra Hubbard joined the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) as the Program Manager of the Business Institute on December 6, 2021. She oversees all administration and implementation of Business Institute offerings as well as managing NDIA's external education and training partners and identifying new course opportunities. She is an experienced educator with approximately seven years of experience educating and training others.
Prior to joining NDIA, Sandra taught in Mississippi and the District of Columbia and served as the Program Coordinator for the Mississippi Teacher Corps at the University of Mississippi. Sandra’s role as the Program Coordinator included observing, training, mentoring, and evaluating teachers as well as actively working with colleagues on an equity framework, COVID-19 Readiness Plan, and a project to make the program more equitable, diverse, and inclusive.
As the Program Manager for the Business Institute, two of Sandra’s top goals include expanding the Business Institute and providing effective educational and training experiences.
Sandra is an honor graduate of the University of Mississippi, holding a Bachelor of General Studies with minors in Education, English, and Professional Writing, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching. She is a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and was honored as Teacher of the Month while teaching in Mississippi.
Sandra is from Manassas, Virginia, and she currently resides in Virginia with her husband, Joshua.
Chris Sax - Strategy Associate
Chris joined the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) as a Membership Services Coordinator in June of 2019, and has worked as a Strategy Associate since February of 2021. In this role, he is responsible for developing and managing several strategic initiatives and facilitating collaboration between government and industry experts.
Prior to joining NDIA, Chris worked as a staffer on local Texas elections and as a Research Associate focused on improving the efficiency of various U.S. national security agencies. Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Texas A&M University and his Master of International Affairs from Texas A&M’s Bush School of Government and Public Service in 2015 with concentrations in Military Affairs and Grand Strategy.
Robbie Van Steenburg - Regulatory Associate
Robbie joined the National Defense Industrial Association as a Regulatory Policy Associate on July 20, 2020. Robbie is a Texas native and, prior to joining NDIA, he attended both the University of Texas at Austin and George Washington University. In 2018 Robbie graduated from The University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Astronomy, and in 2020 he graduated from George Washington with a Master of Arts in International Science and Technology Policy. During his time in Austin, Robbie interned in the Texas State Legislature. While studying at GW, he worked with a team of other students to complete a year-long research project on behalf of the Secure World Foundation.
Nery Riveiro - Data Administrator
Nery has been with NDIA for over 30 years. She started working at NDIA as an Information Specialist when it was called the American Defense Preparedness Association (ADPA). Nery has filled various positions in different departments at NDIA over the years.
Prior to joining the Policy & Strategy Department, Nery worked in the Meetings and Divisions Department as an assistant to the Vice President of NDIA, and the CDM Certification Program Manager.
