Maxwell School National Security Management Course Offering

The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University is pleased to open enrollment for its Spring 2021 National Security Management (NSM) course to individual affiliates of the National Defense Industrial Association. NSM develops senior executives of military, government, and industry organizations to perform confidently in roles for which in-depth knowledge of national security affairs is essential. The syllabus of the course (see attached from Fall 2020) involves a mix of keynote addresses, case-studies, lectures, and discussions addressing the gamut of issues in national security—global trends, grand strategy, budgets and programs, institutions, technology, regional studies, et al. The 60-hour course is delivered by a mix of online and on-campus components:

The first half of the course will be delivered across a videoconferencing platform in ten, 3-hour sessions every Thursday beginning 25 March 2021.

The second half of the course is a one-week component beginning Monday, 7 June 2021 that will be delivered in a hybrid format that accommodates both on-campus and online participation.

The $9,000 cost of the course covers tuition and all lodging, meals, and local transportation during the on-campus component. Graduates of NSM at Syracuse join a distinguished cadre of over 2,000 alumni which form a powerful network of leaders in US national security affairs.
