Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications

Scott Rekdal is the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). Scott leads strategic marketing efforts for NDIA as well as NDIA’s three Affiliates: the National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA), the Precision Strike Association (PSA), and Women In Defense (WID). Scott reports to the CEO and is responsible for overall association brand development, strategy, and execution of all traditional and digital marketing functions across the organization to include integrated digital marketing programs that span web, multimedia, mobile and social assets, matrix management, and content creation.

With an ability to conceptualize as well as design and produce targeted final products in print, web, audio, and video, he has developed an instinct for successful multi-faceted marketing campaigns. He has directed creative teams for Fortune 500 commercial clients as well as Government clients. Scott has taken commercial best practice into the Government arena to produce award-winning work in both print and broadcast media.

Before joining NDIA, Scott led a DC marketing and communications firm as Creative Director. He was responsible for leading all aspects of branding for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) during its transition from the U.S. Department of Treasury to the U.S. Department of Justice. During his nearly 10 years with the firm, he developed successful multi-faceted marketing campaigns and branding strategies for Fortune 500 companies as well as government clients such as the Department of Defense civilian recruitment campaign (Television, Print, Web, Video, Trade Show Exhibits) to support a workforce of over 750,000. He has a diverse list of government, non-profit, and commercial clients: AIPAC, Airline Pilots Association, AIG, American Chemical Society, American Diabetes Association, American Red Cross, AT&T, DIA, DoD, Fleet Bank, GSA, HUD, NAPA, National Association of Broadcasters, National Association of Homebuilders, NCUA, NIH, NTSC, OPM, SMC, United Way, USAAA, USAJOBS, and USDE.

Scott has received three national Telly awards for video, three national Creative Excellence Awards for print, and the Spotlight Award for excellence in exhibit design. He holds a BA in Secondary English Education from Long Island University, where he received the Editor’s Award for his work with the literary and arts magazine.
