Bio

Brett Ulander hails from Rockville, MD.  After graduating from the University of Maryland in 1982 with a degree in Behavioral Science, Brett went to work for IBM working in contract administration.  In February 1983, he entered Naval Aviation Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL and was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy in June of 1983.  After completing flight training in October 1984, Brett received his Wings of Gold” as a Naval Aviator.  Brett amassed over 4000 flight hours and earned his Commercial Single/Multi-engine Instrument pilot rating during his 20 year Navy career flying T-34, T-44 and P-3 aircraft.  While in the Navy, Brett completed seven flying tours, six in the P-3 aircraft. Brett served as a Mission Commander during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm flying with Special Projects Unit TWO.  From 1996-1997, Brett served as Officer in Charge, Patrol Wing ONE Diego Garcia, B.I.O.T., supporting P-3 Operations throughout the Fifth and Seventh Fleets; and he completed his career as Director of the Navy’s Crew Resource Management School at Naval Aviation Schools Command, Pensacola, Florida.  During his tour in Pensacola, Brett completed his final requirements for a Doctor of Psychology degree (PsyD) from California Coast University in April of 2002.  After retiring in 2003, Brett went to work in the defense industry, over the last twenty years he has worked for several large and small businesses including SAIC, OPINICUS Corporation, Cubic Global Defense, Logistic Services International (LSI) and in February of 2020, he co-founded Bluedrop USA in where he serves as the President.  Brett has served in leadership positions in the areas of Program Management, Business Area Management, Capture Management, Business Development and as a Senior Executive. Brett received his Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in May of 2006 and attended the Defense Acquisition University’s (DAU) elite ten-week Executive Program Manager’s Course PMT-401 in 2008 at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.  Brett serves on the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Board of Directors and on the National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA) where he currently serves as the Chair to the NTSA Executive Committee. Previously, Brett was the inaugural President of the NDIA First Coast Chapter, where he received the NDIA Gold Medal Award in recognition of his exceptional service. In 2021, he joined the Central Florida Chapter of the Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality Association (VRARA) as an Advisor and in December of 2022, Brett was elected to the National Center for Simulation (NCS) Board of Directors. In his off time, Brett is an amateur mechanic restoring a 1972 Corvette and he is an avid motorcycle rider. Brett is married to the former Ms. Linda Wilhelm.  Together they have five grown children; two awesome grandchildren and three pups that still live at home.
