66th Annual Fuze Conference Abstracts

Theme and Overview

NDIA welcomes the participation of both domestic and allied Fuze designers, manufacturers and component suppliers, and research organizations along with government representatives. This year’s theme is Fuzing at the Forefront of Advancing Weapon Capabilities. This conference provides the opportunity to discuss and share ideas on advancements within the Fuze community as well as their ways of continuing technological advancements during the pandemic. Please join us and share your successes and lessons learned.

Abstract Classification

The 66th Annual Fuze Conference is UNCLASSIFIED to support the individual presentation of technical presentations by military, government, and industry executives and technical personnel. This event will include sessions with open discussions - Distribution A content, and closed discussions - Distribution D content. Authors must indicate whether the presentation for which they are submitting an abstract will be one of the following:

• Distribution A - Approved for Public Release.

• Distribution D - Department of Defense and U.S. DoD Contractors only (Joint Certification Program).

Do not submit an abstract that contains Distribution D or Unclassified Export Controlled Technical Data. If an abstract is accepted for a presentation that will contain Distribution D content, the authors will be given instructions on how to submit that presentation in accordance with NDIA procedures for handling Unclassified Export Controlled Technical Data. The title of any presentation that will contain controlled unclassified information (CUI) must itself be approved for public release.

Authors who are DoD Contractors will be required to submit an Employment Verification Letter and a copy of their companies’ DD2345 form (Military Critical Technical Data Agreement) for access to or presentation in Distribution D sessions. Government employees/active duty military will be required to present a valid CAC card when accessing these sessions/content. The meeting format has been established to support the individual presentation of technical presentations by military, government, and industry executive and technical personnel. Abstracts can be submitted for presentation at an “Open Session” or a “Distribution D/Closed Session.” Classified abstracts will not be accepted. Based on historical precedent, Open Session abstracts and papers have a greater likelihood of being selected. Where possible, related abstracts will be grouped together to enhance audience interest and participation. Abstracts are solicited for topics relating to requirements, technical developments, innovation, program status, and methods of addressing DoD- and STANAG-mandated changes.

Presenters are encouraged to select fresh topics that would be of interest to an audience of Fuze managers and technical personnel. Presentations by foreign partners is encouraged.

Abstracts

Individuals are required to submit a concise abstract of 4000 characters or less no later than Monday May 15, 2023.  Authors will be notified whether their proposed abstract has been accepted for presentation on or about June 1, 2023.

NOTE: The deadline to submit abstracts has passed, but you may still submit an abstract to be considered as an alternate should any initial presenters cancel.  Please contact Rhea Ambanta at rambanta@NDIA.org if you have any questions.

Presentation Requirements

Presentations should be in Microsoft PowerPoint format (all versions accepted). Oral presentations will be limited to twenty (20) minutes, including five (5) minutes for questions. Abstracts and presentations for the “Open Session” may feature an international audience. Abstracts and presentations for the “Distribution D/Closed Session” must be approved for limited distribution. Please be sure to label your presentation with the following:

  • Industry: “Unclassified” on each slide.
  • Government: “Distribution Statement A, Approved for Public Release. Distribution Unlimited” on each slide.
