Amir is an accomplished serial entrepreneur and inventor in the drug delivery device space. He has formed a number of combination product startup companies and served in a variety of roles for these companies including CEO, CTO, and as a Board Member and advisor. In 2006, Amir co-founded SteadyMed which developed a wearable prefilled drug delivery device and was acquired by United Therapeutics in 2018 ($216 million). Along his professional career he supported several leading healthcare companies to innovate and address unmet needs in the drug delivery device space, including Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, Phillips, and Medtronic.

The portfolio of drug delivery products that Amir developed include MAP Pharmaceutical MDI Inhaler (acquired by Allergan in 2013 for $983 million), dry powder inhaler, durable infusion pumps, disposable infusion pumps, wearable pumps, drug primary containers and prefilled syringes. He is a titled inventor on 81 patents and 64 patent applications. Under Amir’s leadership, Aktiv has raised over $70 million and entered into numerous development contracts with leading pharmaceutical companies and entered contracts with the US Government with a total value (including options) of over $330 million.

In the last 5 years Amir has grown Aktiv from an early stage startup to a vertically integrated specialty pharma organization with over 130 employees and domestic development and manufacturing capabilities which include in house assembly cleanrooms and a sterile fill-finish capabilities.
