Bio

Captain Brian Schorn is the Project Director of Joint Bombs, Joint Program Executive Office, Armanents & Ammunition, Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey.  Captain Schorn is the senior representative of the Navy on the Single Manager of Conventional Ammunition (SMCA) team.  He leads a group of 20 professionals in achieving cost, schedule, and performance goals for Air Force, Army and Navy configuration-managed products.  Prior to his current assignment, Captain Schorn served from July 2012 to July 2015 as the Logistics Operations Branch Chief, Logistics Directorate, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, NE.

Captain Schorn earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA and a Master of Science Degree in Operational Research/Logistics from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA.   He also received a Master of Science Degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University, Washington, D.C.  In May 2015 he completed the Senior Executive Fellows Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. 

Captain Schorn was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps program in May 1993.  His sea duty tours include USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57) based in San Diego, CA, USS RAMAGE (DDG 61) based in Norfolk, VA, and U.S. SIXTH Fleet, embarked in USS LA SALLE (AGF 3), based in Gaeta, Italy.   

Ashore, he served as a contracting intern at Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, San Diego, CA, Readiness Officer at Naval Surface Forces Pacific, San Diego, CA, and as Executive Officer at Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, San Diego, CA.  He also completed an individual augmentation tour as a contracting officer in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Captain Schorn is qualified as a Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer and is designated as an Acquisition Professional.  His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Achievement Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal.
