Bio

Ms. Pittman currently serves as the Deputy Product Lead, Common Tactical Truck in PM Transportation Systems.

Ms. Pittman became Federal civilian June 2006 and has had continuous service to the US Army. Vanessa began her career as a Department of the Army Financial Management Intern assigned to US Army Tank and Automotive Command (TACOM), G-8 Operations and Maintenance Army Division in Warren, MI.

Upon successful completion of the Intern program in 2008, Vanessa became a permanent Resource and Budget Analyst for the TACOM G-8 Operations and Maintenance Division. She successfully managed and closed out the Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) and Supplemental Funding in the amount of $329.3M.

In November 2010, Vanessa was promoted to a Program Analyst for Program Executive Office Combat Support and Combat Service Support Business Management Staff Office. She was responsible for consolidating and reporting obligations, disbursements and variance status for PEO CS&CSS to HQDA.

In April 2013, Vanessa requested a developmental assignment to gain PM experience and joined the Joint Project Office (JPO) Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) to assist in the transition from a JPO with the Marine Corps to an Army Project Office (APO). She became the Business Office Team Lead was instrumental in transitioning the Business team to operating within the Army Financial Management Regulations.

In September 2015, Vanessa was promoted to a NH-04 (GS-14 equivalent). She served as the Division Chief for Budget Execution and Army Audit Readiness for SoSE&I. In August 2016, Vanessa became the Deputy Business Manager for the Army Rapid Capabilities Office. She was instrumental in developing the initial funding strategy for the organization. She supported the Executive Director during Professional Staff Member reviews on Capitol Hill and any financial briefings at the Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA) level.

In December 2018, Vanessa was reassigned as the Director, Business Management for the Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office. She was responsible for oversight and management of the budget planning, programming and execution process. She was responsible for developing funding strategies and providing cost analyses. She was also responsible for congressional reporting on funding actions, to include creating and submitting assessment packages to the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Management and Comptroller for any new start programs, as well as providing information for any Above Threshold Reprogramming requests. She was responsible for coordinating with HQDA entities to ensure the RCCTO has funding required to execute assigned initiatives.

Ms. Pittman is a graduate of the 2021-2022 Senior Service College Fellowship Virtual Cohort. Her Broadening assignment is the Deputy Product Lead for Common Tactical Truck. She is responsible for providing guidance and direction for the development, testing, system integration, production, fielding, sustainment, and product improvements for the Common Tactical Truck. She is responsible for executing the complete range of supervisory duties and Human Resource Management.

Vanessa holds a M.S. in Business Management with a Concentration in Project Management from Lawrence Technological University and a B.S. in Business Management from Oakland University. She is the recipient of the David Packard Excellence in Acquisition Award, the Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service and the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service. She holds Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Advanced certification in Business, Cost Estimating and Financial Management and Practitioner certification in Project Management. She holds a TS/SCI Clearance.
