Bio

Mike McDermott is the Program Director for Sustainment, Protection Systems and International within BAE Systems’ Combat Mission Systems business. In his current role, Mike is responsible for program performance across the Anniston Forge, Phoenix Protection Systems, Sustainment Services and International Program Management. 

Previously Mike served as the Deputy V.P. for BAE Systems Ground Vehicles.  He also performed as the site leader for BAE Systems’ Phoenix facility. The Phoenix Site has approximately 275+ employees and 30+ customers, and is home to the Protection Systems survivability equipment business. Mike supports various mentorship programs across the business and he currently serves as the Executive Co-Sponsor for the HOLA (Hispanic Organization of Leadership Advancement) Employee Resource Group. 

Mike is a graduate of Creighton University, he also studied economics and business at the American Institute in Barcelona, Spain through the International Excellence program. He earned an Executive Masters in Business from Northwood University and was inducted into the “Who’s Who of American College Students”.  Mike is also a graduate of the BAE Systems 2010 Emerging Leaders Programme.

Certifications and memberships include; Karrass Advanced Negotiation Strategies, Six Sigma Green Belt Certified, Portfolio Leadership Best Practices (PLBP), Carlson Leadership Award for community service and philanthropy, Member of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Member of Arizona Manufacturing Council and was published in National Defense Magazine, “Troop Survivability in Blast Events.”

Mike has lived and worked in several locations across the U.S. and Internationally.  He currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona with his family. He is an avid supporter of U.S. Veterans and enjoys various outdoor activities, travel and volunteer work with his family.
