Description

This virtual session will be an informational briefing on the goals and objectives of this initiative along with specific thrusts for industry incentives, semiconductor technology and workforce development.  Additionally, the Department of Commerce has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to collect stakeholder input on how the semiconductor initiative should be implemented.  Following the information session will be an RFI roundtable to collect input.

The current proposal would provide Commerce over $50 billion for programs to strengthen the domestic semiconductor industry by: incentivizing investment in semiconductor manufacturing facilities and associated ecosystems; providing shared infrastructure to accelerate semiconductor R&D and prototyping; supporting research related to advanced packaging; and supporting advanced metrology research.

The information session will provide an executive level overview of the envisioned program.

The RFI roundtable session will explore selected questions from the semiconductor RFI.
