Bio

Wolfgang Petermann hails from the greater Detroit, Michigan area.  He entered civil service in 2010 following his retirement from the Army where he served on active duty for 22 years.

Prior to assuming his position as Project Manager, Transportation Systems, Wolfgang has held a broad range of troop leadership and staff positions at the battalion, brigade, product and project levels.  His primary acquisition assignments have included: Product Manager, Sets, Kits, Outfits and Tools; Product Manager, Heavy Tactical Vehicles; Director of Logistics, United States Marine Corps Light Armored Vehicle Program; Program Manager, International Programs, Tank Automotive Research & Development Engineering Center; Product Manager, Joint Light Tactical Vehicles; Director of Army Programs, Office of Defense Cooperation, Greece; Assistant Program Manager for Operations, Future Combat Systems; Assistant Project Manager for Procurement, Stryker Brigade Combat Team; Contingency Contracting Officer, US Army Japan. 

He attended Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science.  Later, he attended Boston University where he earned a master’s degree in international relations.   He has also completed the Command and General Staff College, executive program management and contracting courses through the Defense Acquisition University.  Wolfgang is a member of the Army Acquisition Corps and is Level III certified in Program Management, Contracting, and Purchasing.  He is also level II certified in Logistics.    

Wolfgang’s previous civilian and military awards include the Superior Civilian Service Award, the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Joint Forces Commendation Medal.  He has also has earned the U.S. Parachutist Badge, the Greek Parachutist Badge and the German Armed Forces Efficiency Badge in bronze.
