Bio

Richard is a highly skilled executive with over 30 years of leadership experience in business development, operations, and research. With MBDi, Richard serves as a lead trainer for both virtual and in-person executive workshops on Business Development. He is available as a Senior Consultant to assist in coaching, planning and implementation of an effective BD strategy.

For over 30 years, he has led service-based organizations in a variety of executive leadership roles including executive (president, vice president), marketing (director) and national sales (director). In this capacity, he has held key accounts directly in addition to coaching and mentoring business development professionals to outperform budget expectations.

As a uniquely qualified scientist-leader, Richard has a thoughtful and methodical approach to discovering underlying opportunities for effective organizational improvement in business development, operations, and technical service. He is experienced in quality organizations (ISO 17025; cGXP) and has integrated multiple quality paradigms into one where that was appropriate. He understands regulatory complexity and has authored five food additive petitions, managed FIFRA registrations and successfully conducted USDA authorized in-plant trials for novel products.

He began his career with Clorox before moving to regulatory affairs with a Tenneco subsidiary and advanced to other key roles with Vulcan Materials, Ecolab, Labcorp and Eurofins, among others. He is familiar with opportunities in culture development having both conducted M&A integration and having been an acquired entity.

Richard holds a bachelor's and doctorate in chemistry from the University of California. He was a 2016 recipient of the prestigious Labcorp Chairman's Award for inspiration, dedication, and unrelenting pursuit of excellence. Richard is an Eagle Scout and a member of the American Chemical Society, International Association for Food Protection, and the Institute of Food Technologists.
