Bio

Huban A. Gowadia leads the Global Security Directorate workforce of more than 800 employees and manages an annual operating budget of around $430 million. As the Principal Associate Director for Global Security at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Gowadia is responsible for building and executing programs focused on intelligence, nonproliferation, counterproliferation, and counterterrorism and incident response across the spectrum of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive threats. She is also responsible for programs in energy technologies, infrastructure protection, and cyber and space security.

 

Gowadia joined LLNL in May 2018 as the National Ignition Facility & Photon Science Deputy Principal Associate Director for Programs. She has more than 20 years of experience supporting national security and has served at the highest levels of government, including multiple organizations in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Aviation Administration. In her previous role as Acting Administrator at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), she led a workforce of more than 60,000 employees charged with protecting our critical transportation systems and the traveling public. Prior to her recent service at TSA, she served as the Presidentially-appointed Director of the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office at DHS.
