Description

PROPOSED MILITARY APPLICATIONS of Small, Self-Contained Nuclear Reactors

Current nuclear plants support national security by maintaining the grid backbone; but, micro, small, and medium sized reactors are now being globally developed to maintain operations of critical functions. Even if key parts of the national grid goes down for extended times due to terrorism, national disasters or malfunctions, some of these new, advanced reactors can also be configured to purify water, operate pollution-free, safely, terrorism-secure, and function independently/off-grid for 24/7/365 from 3 to 30 years without refueling.

This abundance of affordable power could enable previously untapped, globally remote land and water areas in every kind of climate at any time of the year to be habitable and productive. No other form of power production even comes close to such future capabilities.

Global competition to dominate the small reactor markets is rapidly heating up. America cannot afford to risk losing its lifeblood of assured electricity by buying future nuclear power plants designed and supported by potentially unfriendly nations. We simply must not allow any nation to adversely control our U.S. power systems through any means. This Carbon Free Energy initiative is designed to help provide U.S. assured power system products while also hugely benefiting all Nevada economic sectors in the future.

This presentation by NevadansCAN Chairman and Energy Security Action Committee Leader, USAF Retired Colonel Bob Frank, will overview the proposal to establish Nevada as the National Engineering & Test Center for Carbon Free Power, with direct applicability to Military operations.

Speaker:
USAF Colonel (Ret.) Robert E. Frank, NDIA Member & Southern Nevada Chapter Leader on Energy Security Actions.
