Mission

The mission of the NDIA Industry-DoD Spectrum Working Group is to provide a space for companies from both the telecommunications and defense industries to come together to work with the Department of Defense to identify potential changes to the current operational and regulatory environment of the electro-magnetic spectrum in pursuit of mutually beneficial solutions. This work is divided among two subcommittees: the Spectrum Operations Committee, focused on the technical aspects of spectrum sharing; and the Spectrum Regulations Committee, focused on improving the regulatory environment and identifying opportunities to harmonize policies among allied countries.

Objective

The Spectrum Working Group aims to:

  • Identify spectrum requirements for commercial and defense applications.
  • Identify opportunities and technological requirements for spectrum sharing, reallocation, or vacation.
  • Identify regulatory changes necessary to achieve spectrum improvements.
  • Develop a timeline for executing spectrum auction and spectrum sharing recommendations.
