VADM Charles E. Weakley Award
Purpose: To provide recognition of meritorious service or noteworthy contributions to effective Government / Industry communications in the field of USW.
Nomination criteria include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
- Meritorious service or noteworthy contributions to effective Government/industry communications in the field of USW.
- Recipient may be a member of the UWD and/or provided exceptional service towards fulfilling the objectives of the Weakley award from an industry or DoD position in support of the UWD.
- Recipient must be a U. S. citizen
Who can Nominate: UWD Executive Board and Advisory Committee members. NDIA UWD will accept nominations from the Navy Research Laboratories and Warfare Centers via their representatives to the EB.
Nomination Process: Nominator prepares a summary document (1-3 pages) which supports the Award Criteria, along with a resume (recommended). A proposed Citation shall be included in the nomination package. Letter of Support from the Organization’s Technical Director is recommended.
Nomination Period: 1 November – 15 January
Evaluation Process: Nominees will be evaluated by the NDIA USW Awards Committee and recommendations will be provided to the full EB for approval. Selection criteria include:
- Noteworthy Contributions to effective Govt-Industry communications
- Meritorious Service to NDIA
- Regular contributor in USW Conferences /events
- Verbal / written support of NDIA
- Exceptional service towards fulfilment of Weakley objectives
Notification Process: Upon approval from the EB, all nominating organizations shall be contacted via email within 5 days. The Award winner shall receive follow-on correspondence to arrange for conference attendance. Registration fees for the NDIA USW Spring Conference will be waived for the Award Recipient.
