RADM Jack Jarabak Award

Purpose:  To recognize individual student achievements in the field of ASW and/or Undersea Warfare with the annual NDIA I RADM Jack Jarabak Bronze medal Award.

It is the policy of the NDIA UWD to support those activities which bring recognition to deserving individuals within the field of ASW and/or Undersea Warfare for their contributions to this area vital to our Nation's defense. Toward this end every effort will be made to identify a candidate from the Naval Post Graduate School each Fall for the combined NDIA / RADM Jack Jarabak Bronze Medal Award.

Nomination criteria include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

  • Exceptional contributions in the field of ASW and/or Undersea Warfare technology
  • Outstanding achievement(s) in scientific R&D of ASW and/or Undersea Warfare systems
  • Current Student or recent graduate of NPS
  • U.S. Citizen

Who can Nominate: The NPS USW Academic Committee shall solicit and select a nominee which will be forwarded by its chairman to the NDIA Awards Committee Chairman for UWD executive board approval.

 

Nomination Process: The NDIA will solicit nominations from the Naval Post Graduate School during late fall (November) and forward their nomination to the Chairperson of the Awards Committee by January 15. The nomination shall include why the candidate is being nominated and the proposed Citation. Selection shall be based purely at the discretion of the NPS. 

 

Nomination Period: 1 November – 15 January

 

Evaluation Process: Selection of the nominee will be made by an NPS committee and forwarded by its chairman to the NDIA Awards Committee Chairman for UWD executive board approval 

 

Notification Process: Upon approval from the EB, the Chairman of the Awards Committee shall draft a letter for the Division Chairman notifying the award recipient and inviting the recipient and significant other as appropriate to attend the Spring meeting for the award ceremony. Registration fees for the NDIA USW Spring Conference will be waived for the Award Recipient.
