Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy

ARLINGTON, VA --

NDIA congratulates Ryan McCarthy on his confirmation to lead the Army. His experience as a soldier in the 75th Ranger Regiment, U.S. Special Operations Command, as a public servant within the Pentagon and as a congressional staffer provide him the background needed to succeed in this vital role.

McCarthy is an experienced leader in the defense industry and served previously as acting secretary of the Army, as an adviser to Defense Secretary Robert Gates under former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, and as undersecretary of the Army under President Donald Trump. He worked with other senior Army leaders to spearhead the service’s massive modernization efforts and help establish the Army Futures Command.

NDIA thanks the Senate for recognizing the importance of continuing to swiftly confirm top leaders at the Pentagon.
