NDIA welcomes appointment of JCS vice chair

ARLINGTON, VA -- The National Defense Industrial Association issues this statement regarding the confirmation of Air Force Gen. John Hyten as the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff:
NDIA is pleased the important role of vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has been filled. Air Force Gen. John Hyten will replace Air Force Gen. Paul Selva in the post, serving alongside Army Gen. Mark Milley when the newly appointed chairman replaces Marine Corps. Gen. Joseph Dunford in the fall.
Hyten’s depth of experience with the Air Force and joint space programs gives him the experience needed for this important role within the department. Most recently, he served as head of the U.S. Strategic Command, one of 10 Unified Commands under the Defense Department. His command is responsible for the global command and control of U.S. strategic forces to meet decisive nations security objectives. Hyten previously served tours with the Air Force secretariat, the Air Staff, the Joint Staff and as the director of the Commander’s Action Group at Headquarters Air Force Space Command.
