ARLINGTON, VA -- The National Defense Industrial Association congratulates David Norquist on his Senate confirmation to serve as the 34th deputy defense secretary. Norquist has been performing the duties of this role since January and was given strong support early on from the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK).

Norquist’s breadth of experience developing and implementing the department’s annual budget while serving as the principal adviser to the defense secretary on budgetary and financial matters make him a knowledgeable leader with strong financial qualifications. His background is well-rounded with work in the private sector as a partner in an accounting firm; in varying roles with the Army; as a professional staff member on the House Appropriations Committee’s defense subcommittee; and his service as the deputy undersecretary of defense in the office of the comptroller. In addition, his experience as the first Senate-confirmed chief financial officer for the Department of Homeland Security provides him with varying perspectives to advocate for the Defense Department.

NDIA thanks Congress for working quickly to fill this crucial position within the Defense Department.
