NDIA commends Barrett confirmation as next Air Force secretary

ARLINGTON, VA -- The National Defense Industrial Association issues this statement on Barbara Barrett's confirmation as Air Force secretary:

 NDIA congratulates Barbara Barrett on her confirmation as the next Secretary of the Air Force.  Her distinguished career and skills make her eminently qualified to lead the service.

Barrett brings with her to the Air Force success in business, experience in the public sector and an aviation background as the first civilian woman to land an F/A-18 Hornet on an aircraft carrier. These give her a solid foundation from which to start her new position. She also is an attorney, taught at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, trained as an astronaut for a flight to the International Space Station, chaired the Aerospace Corp.’s Board of Trustees and advised five presidents on trade and defense policy.  

Barrett is the right person to move our Air Force further to regaining readiness while rebuilding and reinforcing itself as the greatest air power and space force on the globe.
