ARLINGTON, VA – Michael Wynne, a stalwart champion of cyber technologies who served as Secretary of the Air Force under President George W. Bush, is the keynote speaker for the 2018 Dwight D. Eisenhower Award Dinner, honoring Sen. James Inhofe, on Wednesday, April 18, at the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City hotel in Arlington, VA.

During his career, Wynne held executive positions with defense giants such as General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin. Wynne was the 21st secretary of the Air Force, serving from 2001 to 2008, and is credited with bringing cyber to the service’s mission. Before that, he was undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics in the Defense Department.

Still passionate about cyber applications, Wynne is co-founder and chairman of Hackproof Technologies of Cocoa Beach, FL, a cyber and security solutions company and mentor to other small-business startups. He sponsors cyber academic achievement awards at the U.S. Military Academy, his alma mater, and the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Wynne is a member of the Systems Engineering Research Center on behalf of The Stevens Institute, also having served as the center’s chairman. He is a board member of VT Systems Inc. of Alexandria, VA, and chairman of two companies in the helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul industry for M-International Corp. of McLean, VA.

The Eisenhower Award is the National Defense Industrial Association’s highest honor. Inhofe, a Republican senator of Oklahoma, was chosen for this year’s award given his steadfast support and efforts to maintain a strong national defense and sound defense industrial base.
