4/20/2017

Arlington, Va. — April 20, 2017

The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) wishes to announce that Our Military Kids, Inc., will honor our outgoing chief executive officer, General Craig R. McKinley, USAF (Ret) with The Frederick C. Smith Excellence Award.

The ceremony will take place during A Salute to Our Stars, a benefit for Our Military Kids, to be held at Army-Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia, on Thursday, April 20, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fox News host and reporter Diana Falzone will serve as the evening’s host.

NDIA is proud of Our Military Kids’ decision to bestow General McKinley with the Frederick C. Smith Award, in recognition of his support of its mission - helping school-age children of deployed National Guard and Reserve service members and wounded warriors from each of the five armed services.

Our Military Kids, Inc., is a non-profit organization. The organization uses grants they receive to defer costs for children’s activities, aimed at helping them cope with the stress and anxiety they endure while their parents are deployed or recovering. During the 30 years since its founding, they have assisted more than 2 million military children. In the past 13 years, Our Military Kids has provided more than 56,000 grants to these deserving recipients. NDIA is pleased to be associated with Our Military Kids, whose grants have helped improve morale and self-esteem among these young people.

This year’s event takes place during the Month of the Military Child. While Our Military Kids celebrates these children every day of the year, NDIA joins them as they focus attention upon these young heroes during this special month.
