World's Largest Simulation and Virtual Reality Event Set to Open November 28 at I/ITSEC 2016

Synthetic Environments, Virtual Worlds to be Featured

ARLINGTON, VA - By far the world's largest and most comprehensive conference and exhibition of modeling, simulation and virtual reality will take place in Orlando, FL from November 28 - December 2, 2016.  Featuring more than 450 exhibitors of cutting-edge virtual technologies and applications, the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) is expected to attract more than 15,000 attendees from government, research organizations, academia and the military to the Orange County Convention Center.

Several ground-breaking events highlight this year's exhibition at I/ITSEC. Among these are a virtual exercise extending across the exhibition hall floor and featuring a blend of live, virtual and constructive simulations, called Operation Blended Warrior (OBW).

Fifty government and corporate participants will cope with a series of challenging virtual scenarios involving military, humanitarian and civilian defense and security elements over a four-day period.

Another major theme this year is "Black Swan", an exploration of low probability, high consequence events that have or will dramatically affect the global condition. These events, either man-made or natural, can best be confronted by advanced planning, and are often only possible to construct using virtual environments.

At I/ITSEC 2016, critical national security issues are exhaustively probed through a series of special events and via dozens of professional papers and presentations. Prominent among these is cyber warfare and potential mitigation. Critical cyber readiness issues will be explored through a world-class panel: how can we train cyber in the right way and what role can the Department of Defense and other federal agencies play in conjunction with industry and academia?

The many other areas in which modeling, simulation and virtual reality are expanding will also be represented at I/ITSEC 2016.  These range from healthcare and epidemiology, to construction, energy sector planning and implementation, maintenance, transportation and distribution, disaster preparedness, climate and weather research and industrial research and production.

Admission to I/ITSEC 2016 and all its events is free for the media. Register now at www.iitsec.org and view the complete program schedule for 2016 to choose those events of most interest.  Check out videos from I/ITSEC 2015 at the YouTube channel--www.YouTube.com/NTSAToday.

I/ITSEC is organized by the National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA), which promotes international and interdisciplinary cooperation within the fields of modeling and simulation (M&S), training, education, analysis, and related disciplines at this annual meeting. NTSA is an affiliate subsidiary NDIA.
