In March, the House and Senate Armed Services Committees wrote a letter to NDIA requesting our input to their Acquisition reform efforts of the coming years. Industry, the Pentagon, and the Congress all have reached consensus that reform is not just desirable, it is essential heading into a period of budget austerity.
In order to properly respond to the Committees' request for input, NDIA needs the views and input of our members. Jon Etherton, NDIA's Senior Fellow for the acquisition reform, began that process in may during a kick-off meeting to discuss the major issue areas comprising his review of the acquisition laws, regulations, policies, and process. Following that meeting, volunteers formed working groups for "deep dives" into several grouped issue areas.
This event will provide a forum for those working groups to present the findings of their deep dives. Those findings will be grouped into the specific problems, root causes, recommended solutions, and relevant changes to law or policy. This session will allow the broader group to provide insight and feedback in response to each working group's deep dive.
