The NDIA Health Affairs Division seeks to establish and foster a close working relationship between members of industry, the public, and government on healthcare matters of common concern in the Military Health System (MHS).

COL Scott A. Svabek, Defense Health Agency (DHA) Acting Director, Contracting. As the acquisition arm of DHA, the Directorate of Procurement is responsible for acquiring the best medical, dental, and pharmaceutical care available for TRICARE’s beneficiaries.

With the significant transformation underway in the MHS, the relationship between the Military Health System and the contracting community will experience significant change. During the DHA Industry Day in February 2014, COL Svabek stated, “It’s important that the contractor community hears from us early and often about what our strategic vision is for the Military Health System; how we are planning to acquire products and services from the private sector; and when they can expect to see our plans turn into specific requirements.”

Prior to this assignment, COL Svabek served as the principal assistant responsible for contracting (PARC) and commander of the Health Care Acquisition Activity for the U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) in San Antonio, Texas.

COL Svabek is ardent AbilityOne Procurement Champion, and in 2012 he was recognized for achieving a 300 percent increase in three years in jobs for people with disabilities.
