You are invited to attend the 2014 Annual Meeting of the National Modeling & Simulation Coalition (NMSC), a cross-discipline organization of stakeholders in the Modeling and Simulation (M&S) industry. The NMSC is the only national organization representing M&S across all domains and disciplines including health care, manufacturing, industrial development, energy, transportation, education, homeland security, defense and others. This coalition was formed in 2012 by a committed network of individuals, corporations, national and international associations, academic and research institutions, governmental organizations, and organizations supporting the government – all using M&S technologies to further advance their domains and disciplines.
The theme of the 2014 Annual Meeting is “Building the Coalition,” emphasizing the collaborative nature of the NMSC enterprise.
The event will feature:
• A keynote address from Dr. Barry W. Johnson, Senior Associate Dean, School of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Virginia
• A special panel session - "NMSC Outreach Activities: Working Together for the Common Good" -- an interactive discussion between senior representatives from various M&S organizations including AME, ACM/SIGSIM, INFORMS/I-SIM, SCS, SISO, MORS and others.
• Interactive breakout sessions on major issues facing the M&S industry and the Coalition:
o M&S Research Agenda
o NAICS Code (for Modeling & Simulation) Proposal
o Public Awareness & Education
• An overview of NMSC activities during the past year, including brief reports from the NMSC Standing Committees
This event should feature an interesting and varied mix of M&S professionals, as well as some lively discussions on where the industry is heading. In addition, the (free) M&S Expo on Capitol Hill will be taking place the following day in the foyer of the Rayburn House Office Building, so attendees will conveniently be able to attend both events.
