Introduction

NDIA's International Division presents a luncheon with the Military Attaché and Minister-Counselor for Defense Cooperation from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Washington, DC.

Each year, the International Division organizes a series of luncheons with the Defense Attaché staffs from allied and friendly embassies. The purpose of these luncheons is to provide industry with an opportunity to exchange views with foreign government representatives and for Attaché staffs to provide industry with informative briefings.

Brigadier General Dirk Backen, Military Attaché, Embassy of Germany, will present a broad overview of the German MoD’s world view and touch lightly on several strategic level regional and global issues. The issues include: Germany’s current domestic politics and factors that influence its strategic vision - How does Germany perceive itself within NATO, within Western Europe, and globally?  He will follow with observations about Germany’s approach to reconciling its strategic vision with resource realities.

Mr. Maik Kammermann, Minister-Counselor for Defense Cooperation, Embassy of Germany, will speak about the implications of resource realities on the Defense Ministry’s acquisition planning.  Mr. Lutz Mouton, Director, Germany Liaison Office for Defence Materiel US/Canada, will also be present.
