Introduction

This is the second in a series of Strike, Land Attack & Air Defense Executive Roundtable Luncheons.

Ideas/Areas of interest for topics:
• Strike mission and where the Admiral sees Strike going in the next 5-10 years. In lean investment years, Industry is keenly focused on wisely investing scare resources to best provide capabilities to the warfighter rather than spreading dollars too thin; open dialog is critical to help focus industry efforts in alignment with USN needs.
• Fiscal Reality: Rising Cost and Declining Force structure, Growing Sustainment and Manpower Costs…what should industry focus on to bring developmental capabilities to meet the growing/evolving threats when DoD investment dollars are being crowded out by other commitments?
• What is the Navy focused on for next generation Strike weapons: hypervelocity projectiles, extreme accuracy steerable bullets, rail gun, high speed strike weapons, rebalancing the cost curve (cost/kill), applying precision accuracy to the smallest effective weapon, UAS weaponization, miniature precision munitions?
• Direct Energy (Lasers, Pulsed Electromagnetic Energy, High Power Microwave/RF an even Rail Gun)
• Way forward on BMD shooters (limits on DDG Flt X, moving to LPD-sized ships?)
• Linkage with and contribution of Labs (ONR) to N9 objectives
• Manifestations of USMC "return to Expeditionary Roots" and impact on Strike, Land Attack and Air Defense
• Thoughts on LCS (can go anywhere here, but value added to ship mix, where he sees LCS vs. DDG's)
• AoAs underway
• COCOMs IPL that are not being met
