COL Paul Roege is the Chief, Army Operational Energy Office where he is responsible for leading the Army's Operational Energy program to maximize operational capabilities and ensure global reach. His office’s goal is to weave energy considerations throughout military systems, planning and operational control processes to achieve "energy-informed operations." Among his programs is the development of a new energy architecture that will provide the model for global implementation of "internet-like" scalable energy networks.
COL Roege has a comprehensive background in worldwide engineering, construction and operations, especially in the energy sector. Previous experience includes such roles as petrochemical plant design, nuclear facility operations, overseas construction and rebuilding the national energy infrastructure in Iraq. He is currently on active military duty to coordinate the Army's approach to "operational energy."
A former project manager for DARPA, and a Reserve Officer for the US Army Nuclear and Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Agency, he is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, holds an MBA from Boston University, and a Masters degree in Nuclear Engineering from MIT.
