Introduction
A new national organization is forming called the National Modeling and Simulation Coalition (NMSC). The intent of this organization is to bring together all constituents and stakeholders using modeling and simulation in manufacturing, defense, medicine, energy, transportation, education, and other areas. Its purpose is to establish and further a national agenda for modeling and simulation and to drive its growth and use into broad areas to support our national economy, welfare, and security. The Inaugural event will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 in Washington DC. Approximately 500 senior executives from corporate, government, and other agencies will attend, along with Representatives Forbes, and other members of the Congressional Caucus.
The event will feature a visionary panel of key leaders from industry, government, and academia, to set the stage for the initial organizational and committee sessions and to define a detailed action plan in four key areas: Education and Workforce Development, Technology Research and Development, Industrial Development, and Business Practice. The outcome of this Inaugural Meeting will be a national action plan to broaden the use of modeling and simulation across these four key areas. This action plan will provide a road map for all in the community of practice to follow in expanding the depth and breadth of this technology and industry.
