Introduction
SYMPOSIUM CANCELLED
We regret to inform you that the 21st Annual SO/LIC Symposium & Exhibition, scheduled for February 9-11, 2010 at the Marriott Wardman Park hotel, has been cancelled due to the current inclement weather conditions in Washington, DC and surrounding areas. At this time, many of the local airports are still closed as is the metro system. This decision was not entered into lightly as the NDIA SO/LIC Executive Board has worked hard to form a terrific line-up of Speakers for this year's Symposium. However, the safety of our attendees is of the utmost importance at this time. NDIA will work to issue full refunds for all registration payments as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Thank you for your support of NDIA, and we look forward to your participation at a future event.
NDIA's Special Operations/Low Intensity Conflict (SO/LIC) Division invites you to attend the 21st Annual SO/LIC Symposium & Exhibition!
The year 2009 saw significant changes in American’s national security leadership and a new Quadrennial Defense Review published. Even outside the Department of Defense, the prevailing thoughts on our future security challenges talk of smaller conflicts, irregular warfare, insurgencies, terrorism, and increasing use of special operations forces. There continues to be an evolving National Security Strategy and National Military Strategy that calls for international partnerships, interagency approaches, and modification of the way General Purpose Forces will contribute to future conflict. Clearly, Special Operations Forces cannot succeed by themselves. This 21st Annual SO/LIC Symposium & Exhibition will address the evolving national strategy and the impact of that strategy not only on special operations forces, but its partners in government, internationally and from the private sector.
Awards
The R. Lynn Rylander Award, DeProspero Lifetime Achievement Award and individual Achievement Awards will be presented at the Awards Banquet, February 10, 2010, in conjunction with this year's symposium.
