Conference Overview: "INNOVATION INSIDE - OPPORTUNITIES AMIDST CHANGE"
Strong, high performing organizations seek continual renewal. As it positions itself to meet its commitment to the American Public to remain “Always Ready” for “All Threats, All Hazards,” the Coast Guard has undertaken a massive and unprecedented effort to completely restructure itself around two key themes: mission execution and mission support. With this year’s theme: “INNOVATION INSIDE - OPPORTUNITIES AMIDST CHANGE” the 2009 Innovation Expo promises to be an exciting opportunity to promote both Coast Guard and industry ideas while navigating the current landscape of comprehensive organizational change.
The 2009 Expo focuses on the Service’s commitment to creating a more responsive, flexible, and agile Coast Guard through the application of new technologies and comprehensive changes to our command and control structure, organizational makeup, and internal business processes. With this in mind, this event is designed to identify opportunities for private and public partners, as well as our internal workforce to offer effective solutions to emerging business challenges such as management of distributed workforces, social communication methods, and active collaboration tools. The Coast Guard is seeking industry and academia expertise as it pursues mission focused systems and logistics solutions which have innovation “engineered in.”
Internally, the Coast Guard is bursting with ingenious people and the Innovation Expo provides a prime opportunity for showcasing and celebrating Coast Guard innovators in a culture supportive of inherent grass roots creativity. The benefits of active collaboration between program managers and asset or system end users cannot be overstated. In keeping with the Innovation Inside theme, this year’s expo will highlight new collaboration tools designed to efficiently collect, evaluate, provide feedback, and implement the best of our workforce’s ideas.
By bringing innovators and a broad array of hard and soft technologies, concepts, and ideas into direct contact with Coast Guard decision makers and operational experts, the Innovation Expo is the ideal venue for encourage community dialog on enhancing Coast Guard Mission effectiveness. We look forward to seeing you in November!
