Bio

Maj. Daniel S. Long is a Legislative Liaison with responsibility for Installations, Military Construction, and other Civil Engineer core function areas serving in the Secretary of the Air Force’s Office of Legislative Liaison.  In this role he serves as a key link between Congress and the Headquarters, United States Air Force for current and future legislative actions across the total force. 

Maj. Long earned his commission through the Florida State University’s ROTC program and was first assigned to Ellsworth AFB, SD as a Civil Engineer Officer. Following selection to Naval School, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Maj. Long served in Explosive Ordnance Disposal positions at Aviano AB, Italy and Kirtland AFB, NM.  Following these tours of duty he was selected for assignment to the Pentagon to serve first on the Air Staff and then on the Secretariat within Headquarters, United States Air Force.  Maj. Long has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, serving in a variety of positions at the team member, company commander, and headquarters staff levels.

Maj. Long’s decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Force Combat Action Medal.
