CAPTAIN BOB ALLEN
COMMANDING  OFFICER
FARRAGUT TECHNICAL ANALYSIS CENTER

Captain Bob Allen assumed command of the Farragut Technical Analysis Center in July 2016  Prior to his current assignment, he served as Chief of Staff for the National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office. A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, CAPT Allen earned commission through Officer Candidate School in 1988.

In October 1989, he reported as Squadron Intelligence Officer to Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron (VAQ)141,  deploying to the Persian Gulf and Mediterranean Sea aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) during Operations Desert Storm and Provide Comfort. In November 1991, CAPT Allen reported  to the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), serving as a Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Intelligence Plot Watch Officer and briefer, and a National Military Joint Intelligence Center (NMJIC) Watch Officer. He next attended the Joint Military Intelligence College from 1993 to 1994.

CAPT Allen reported  to the Joint  Intelligence Center Pacific (JICPAC), Pearl Harbor, HI, in 1994, where he served as Intelligence Watch Officer, Executive Assistant to the Director of Operations, and Navy Intelligence Support Officer. In 1997, he returned to the fleet as Intelligence Officer of forward-deployed Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5. This tour included two operational deployments to the Persian Gulf and Western Pacific aboard USS Independence (CV 62) and USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). From 2001-2004, CAPT Allen served as the U.S. Naval Attache to Croatia, where he planned, coordinated and executed numerous security cooperation activities. Following completion of studies at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I in 2005, he reported to Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, serving as Operations and Fleet Support Officer. He completed his most recent sea tour at Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, embarked onboard USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) in 2008, serving as Deputy Assistant  Chief of Staff for Intelligence.

CAPT Allen next served as Assistant  Officer-In-Charge, ONI Detachment, Newport, Rl, providing intelligence support to research, analysis and war gaming at the Naval War College from 2009 to 2010. From March 2010 to February 2012, he completed his milestone tour as Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence at Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet, where his staff was responsible for fleet intelligence operations and readiness. Following attendance at the Joint Forces Staff College for JPME Phase II, CAPT Allen's most recent operational assignment was as Director  for Intelligence and Security and
Navy Element Commander, Joint  Interagency  Task Force South from 2012 to 2014. In 2015, he graduated with distinction from the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy.

CAPT Allen's decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (two awardsl, Joint Service Achievement and Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), the Order of the Croatian Lattice,  and the Edwin T. Layton Award for leadership.
